How to replace a MAF Sensor:

Replacing a MAF sensor is relatively simple, but ensure the engine is off and cool before installation. A professional technician is recommended if unsure.

  • STEP 1: Turn off the engine and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • STEP 2: Locate the MAF sensor on the intake air duct between the air filter and the throttle body.
  • STEP 3: Unplug the electrical connector and loosen the clamps or bolts holding the sensor.
  • STEP 4: Remove the old MAF sensor and install the new one carefully in the same position.
  • STEP 5: Reconnect the wiring and battery terminal.
  • STEP 6: Reset the vehicle’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) — this helps the computer recognize the new sensor and recalibrate air-fuel readings. You can do this by disconnecting the battery for 5–10 minutes or using a diagnostic scan tool to clear old fault codes.
  • STEP 7: Start the engine and check for smooth idling and proper acceleration.
